Do you feel conflicted when you hear the word “DIET”and are uncertain of what it truly means? It is common that the word gets a bad rep because it is misconstrued with solely eating chicken and rice 365 days a year and being miserable. Oh my heavens… Absolutely NOT! Being on a diet does not mean depriving yourself from the foods/drinks that you savor daily…EVER! You heard that right. You can enjoy life ALL while being able to succeed to achieve your goals. How about we eliminate the word diet and insert “Game Plan to Success”. That sounds less dreadful. What dieting entails of is adhering to a plan that helps you achieve your GOALS. The formula is very simple once you figure it out and when you do you will be on your way to the Game Plan to Success.
WHICH ONE TO TRY?
Is there merely ONE regimen that works best for everyone? No. If you tried a diet and didn’t have success you are not some crazy human. Whew. If someone ever told you that you must abide to a certain diet it was most likely due to the fact that it was a success for them and they assumed it would work for you also. It potentially could but if it didn’t that doesn’t mean you get disgruntled and give up. There are endless plans that will take you TRIAL AND ERROR to figure out which one works best for you. I suggest to stick to a plan for at least a month to truly see if you like it or not. When you seesaw from diet to diet week after week you aren’t giving yourself enough time to dictate what will work or not. You will figure out the solution. Don’t beat yourself up if you haven’t yet!
DO YOU HAVE TO ELIMINATE CERTAIN FOODS/DRINKS?
DON’T WORRY! You do NOT have to omit anything. Do you have an obsession with donuts? BEAUTIFUL! Donuts for dinner it is! Don’t demonize any food or drink but instead befriend them. Think of everything you consume as energy for your body. A common misconception is that all CARBS are the enemy and dieting in general means your life is going to be miserable. NO. If you are nourishing your body will the proper macronutrients and micronutrients allowing for what you enjoy in moderation is what will set you up to achieving sustainable and successful results.
HOW MUCH SHOULD YOU BE CONSUMING?
Eating the precise amount of calories that are in alignment to what your goals are is profound to your Game Plan to Success. Once you heed to consuming the specific number your body needs you will be able to toy around with the foods/drinks you love and incorporate without impeding with your goal. For example if you want to lose weight and you have the intent to eat ONE donut that is included in your calories you need for the day there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. What DOES matter is that you don’t eat more than the amount of calories you should be intaking. Eating a donut isn’t the problem but if you eat one it may potentially lead to the whole box which will now impede on your weight loss goal. Be mindful but also enjoy!
ALL IN ALL…You need to figure out what you relish and what works best for your body. It may take you 3 weeks, 3 months or a year to find the perfect plan but you will figure it out! :) Patience is key but also have fun with it and don’t beat yourself up if you don’t have the percise plan after 5 tries.
